The Republic of Texas (República de Tejas) was a sovereign state in North America that was founded on March 2, 1836 by Texans and existed until February 19, 1846. This is why we celebrate Texas Independence Day on March 2nd. The Republic included parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico.
